Apt. Hotel Hjalteyri is a family run hotel with apartments and rooms. We are eager to provide excellent service to make your stay with us both relaxing and memorable. We have four apartments and three double/twin rooms.

All apartments/rooms have kettle (tea, instant coffee & creamer), high speed wi-fi and access to sauna and hot tub outside. The penthouse apartment has a private jacuzzi. The story of the house
Apt. Hotel Hjalteyri was first built as a primary school which was operated until 1989. After the school closed the big house was rented to several different organizations until the family bought it from local authorities in the year 2006. It was slowly reorganized and changed and finally Apt. Hotel Hjalteyri was opened in June 2015.
It is our sincere hope that you will enjoy your stay with us. It is rare to find such peaceful and cozy place with beautiful nature all around and all sorts of activities in a short distance.
Hjalteyri and the neighborhood
Apt. Hotel Hjalteyri stands on a hill just two kilometres away from the nice little village, Hjalteyri. In the 20th century Hjalteyri was one of Iceland‘s most promising fishing villages with a big herring factory but today it is a beautiful village where you can take a nice sightseeing walk, play in the field, go whale watching, dive with a professional diver (www.strytan.is), visit some artists (www.verksmidjanhjalteyri.com) or just relax in the hot tub next to the Atlantic-ocean.
Akureyri is only 20 km away with its 17.000 inhabitants and diverse restaurants, shopping and activities. Also we have Dalvík, Ólafsfjörður, Siglufjörður, Hofsós, Sauðárkrókur, Húsavík and Lake Mývatn in the neighborhood.
